Please drop me an email if you would like to share a cab from the airport to the hotel on Saturday morning.

If you are NOT a NClub member right now, but you would like to come to the Bash as an Invited Guest, please let me know and I'll set it up for you. There is no cost to attend. You just pay for your travel, lodging and meals. I'll explain why you might want to come in the next post.

NOTE: we WILL have an TradeTight meeting at the hotel, early on Saturday afternoon (probably from ~1p to 5p). Everyone is welcome ... but I do need to know who is going to try to come. So, please email me if you would like to attend that meeting. It's a 90% likelihood at this point that a room will be available for us.

Here is my flight info, if anyone cares:
Sat ... 02JUN ... Delta 1868 ... LV ATLANTA, GA (ATL) 8:30am ... AR AUSTIN, TX (AUS) 9:58am
Mon ... 04JUN ... Delta 686 ... LV AUSTIN, TX (AUS) 6:50pm ... AR ATLANTA, GA (ATL) 10:05pm

More info in the next post ...

Jim and other TradeTighters:

I'm coming to the BASH.

I would like to come to the Saturday afternoon TradeTight meeting, but will arrive quite late (flight lands at 1:55pm). So unfortunately I'll miss most of it.

I'll join the group for the Sunday evening dinner.

I would be interested in sharing a ride from/to the airport - send me a PM. My itinerary is:
Sat ... 02JUN ... Frontier 212 ... LV DENVER, CO (DEN) 10:50am ... AR AUSTIN, TX (AUS) 1:55pm
Mon ... 04JUN ... Frontier 219 ... LV AUSTIN, TX (AUS) 6:25pm ... AR DENVER, CO (DEN) 8:35pm

Hi Jim,
Got all excited - checked flights etc from Durban - then my wife reminded me that (at long last) our first grandchild arrives on June 2nd !! So a family bash will be happening the same day but this end. Kindly book me for 2013.

A favour please via your office and the other TradeTight members going to the Bash...try and persuade OT to make their education webinars like the Apr 3rd Tuesday one - available for all members in their respective time zones. The web education for Tues Apr 3rd is scheduled for 11.00 pm South African time. I have booked on for next Tuesday - but its late for me.

Thanks anyway for the invite

The room has been confirmed ... many thanks to Nirvana for arranging this for us!

The meeting will be free and open to all Nirvana customers ... Nirvana is not announcing it of course, but I'm requesting a sign in the lobby that will likely draw some curious folks who have nothing better to do ;~)

So, if you expect to be coming ... particularly if you expect to arrive AFTER we start, please let me know so that I can hold a seat for you. We had more walk-ins than I expected last year, and used up ALL the seating. Let me know if you are bringing any guests, too.

Once I get a better idea of who is coming, I'll decide upon an appropriate topic. I promise you that it will be a lot of "meaty" information, not repetitive with Nirvana's training, regardless of the specific theme.

Hi Jim,

I'll also be bringing Duane Bokhart as a "guest" ;-)

So two for the meeting.
And two for the dinner.

Sorta off topic. But is there an updated version of the OTPro manual?
Or is the one with references to OT2008 still current?
That one was in the install package for OT2012.

Bob

Hi Bob-

It will be great to see both of you again.

Afaik there are no OTPro manual upgrades. With the loss of MattG a few yrs ago, they really don't have anyone in staff "dedicated" to pro support. I will be starting indepth training on OLang soon however. :-)

In fact one of the "topics" that I am seriously considering for the Sat session is an intensive kind of "OLang tips 'n tricks" class.

Reminder ... if you're coming to the Bash and have not yet posted in this thread to let us know, please do. Or, if you are not an NClub member but would like to come as a guest (at no charge), email me right away and I'll set it up for you.

If anyone wants to share a ride to the hotel, and if your flight gets in no later than about 10 am, please email me. A friend who is coming in on Friday (from South Africa!) has volunteered to pick us up in his rental car. Be sure to include your cell phone in the email so that we can hook up easily at the airport.

Sorry, but if you're coming in much later than 10a-ish, we will have to leave because I need to time set things up at the hotel in prep for the meeting.

Hi, everyone:

If you have not seen the info about the Bash, please review the top of this thread. I will be giving an extended training session at the hotel early Saturday afternoon. If you have not yet responded to this thread to tell me that you are coming, PLEASE DO. I want to make sure there are enough seats ... I am sure we will have some "walk-ins".

Ask at the front desk what room we are in ... I will ask them to put it on their "events" board. It's supposed to be the same room that we had last year.

TOPIC FOR THE TRAINING ...

Those of you who read the thread I posted yesterday about enhanced flexibility plans for the video training will remember what I mentioned about doing "Packets" of 2-4 videos that work through the ENTIRE creative process related to OmniLanguage development of an Indicator, System, or Stop. I intend to do a lot of those in the future, in addition to the normal "Syllabus" courses. And that's what I'll be doing this Saturday.

Step one: we will start off talking about an Indicator ... we will discuss HOW and WHY it is useful, then will write a VERY simple OLang routine that plots it. I will explain every line as I enter it, along with the "thinking process" I use. Some attendees will know NOTHING about OLang ... I will give enough step-by-step info to show you the ropes (albeit quickly).

Step two: after the Indicator is done and tested and we are comfortable with it, I'll suggest some enhancements to it which will make it more "robust" at how it works, by making it both "smarter" and more "flexible" with additional input parameters. Probably we will enhance the output appearance a bit, as well. Again, I will explain the thinking and the coding process, as I do it.

Step three: now we will discuss the "logic" necessary to turn this Indicator into an OLang System that creates Long/Short entries. Again, I'll explain the reasons and methods I'm using, as we proceed. We will plot the system to make sure it's working as it should be.

Step four: along a similar line, we will discuss the "logic" of using this indicator as an Exit-Stop ... which may have some nuances that differ from how the entry-logic worked. From there, I'll write the Stop code for it, and explain how and why this code differs from the Entry code. We will include some Plot commands to visualize how the stop works.

Step five: the System and Stop will be put together into a simple Strategy, so that we can see our logic in action (for better or worse). This will likely reveal some "conceptual holes" in our logic ... things will happen that we did not expect. But since WE wrote the code, and we fully understand it, we'll be ready and able to apply modifications to improve its operation.

I have to admit that it is somewhat WISHFUL THINKING that we might get through all this in the four hours we've set aside for the meeting ... but I'll give it a try. As long as there are not too many questions or suggestions along the way, I'm pretty sure we can make it. If not, I will follow through later on to the endpoint.

This will be recorded and presuming that it goes OK, will be made available for inexpensive download. So, if you cannot attend, you'll still be able to get hold of it.

I hope you will enjoy this, and I look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Jim

We are meeting on Saturday in the Bastrop Room from 1p-5p (or maybe till 5:30 ;~)

This is the same room that we used last year. There is seating at the tables for twenty people, and extra chairs for those who arrive later.

I have prepared a LOT of material to cover ... something for everyone I hope. It will be a progressive, relatively-in-depth journey through the conception, development, and enhancement of a trading idea. We will start with an Indicator and mould it into a System. If we have time, we'll also create a Stop to go with it.

I'll be sharing quite a few "coding tricks" as we go, and I'll try to explain them clearly enough for novices to follow. The session will be recorded and offered as an inexpensive download (including the various TXT files), so that you can review it slowly and repeatedly later on.

I look forward to seeing y'all SOON!
